  1. I have been using the repeater for months now. And it worked before I got this revevis ra87.
  2. I think I didnt explain this correctly. When tranmitting to a repeater. I am not activating it. You know like, you key to see if your hitting the repeater.
  3. I have the RA87. And when I input my repeater frequencies. Only a couple work. On the ones that dont. I press the PTT and left off, and I dont hear the repeaters output tones.
  4. On my radio the other day. I was listening to one of the local repeaters. But some how I turned it to Narrow band and the signal improved and it got louder. Can someone explain why this happens? Remember I am fairly new. Dont be too harsh.

  7. Another update. I finally got my SWR meter. And checked my SWR and it was 1.2 on channel 16 and 1.7 on channel 30. And I have 85' of a coax run.

  10. Well thank you. I was wondering if one stays below 50 watts. How could anyone tell what radio it is.
  11. This might be a dumb question. But can a ham UHF radio be used for GMRS only?
  12. Just alittle update. Since I was testing this morning. My overall performancce of the radio is 100% better since the adaptor has been removed. Again thanks for all the help.
  13. Thanks for all the help. I found a bad adaptor. Changed around my adpators and I now get full signal ob receive.
  14. It just started. I thing I may have found the issue. One of my adaptors is showing continuty between the center pin to outside of the adaptor.

  16. If I gett on the roof the wife would kill me. I am retired besause of 7 spine surgeries. I will try and get someone to take it down.
  17. I have a Comet-EFC. I have no receive signal at all. I tried 2 different radios with the same result. I used a multimeter set on ohms. From radio coax I tested center pin and the ground with coax connected to the antenna. And I get a OL on the meter. I have no clue what is wrong. I think the antenna is bad. Please help.

  21. Well my goal is to reach repeaters that I hear clear as day on my HT.
  22. Whats a decent mobile to use for a base station. I know a lot has to do with preference etc. But what is better 40 watts or 50 watts? What wattage gives me the best chance of reaching repeaters 40-50 miles away? I have a CA-712EFC about 15 feet off the ground.

    Thank you. The antenna is far away from the house. Oh and is grounded with a grounding rod.

    Oh the wife is going to love this. I am unable to put a antenna on our roof. So, is mounting a antenna on a 2x4x8 on our deck railing good enough?
