I have put up a base antenna. Mounted to a 2x4x8 on my deck. Im using a HT connected to the antenna. Is there a way to tell if its in a acceptable SWR range? I dont have a SWR meter. I mean to tell if the SWR is too high.

Can you run the ground wire right next to the coax line? Or wrap it around the coax?

Can I ground to copper water pipes inside my basement? Or do I need a more direct grouding with a grounding rod?

I know a HT has 5 watts. How would it do with a base antenna? The antenna is about 17' high. I know there is a lot of varibels. Just in general

I am very new to GMRS. Like a couple weeks new. My question is can you mount a 800mz scanner antenna on the same pole as a GMRS antenna? Like below or above the GMRS antenna.
