We're always looking for ways to make connecting with each other easier and more efficient. (Hell, that's kinda the nexus of radio communication, right?) On this week's Brentwood 600 check-in net, we announced two new web addresses that you can type into any browser, save in your bookmarks, or -- most importantly -- verbally give out to your friends who'd like to connect with and join this club. Either web address will take you directly to the club page. Why two addresses? Because some people remember shorthand and abbreviations better and other people recall descriptive words instead. So simply type in SCTNGMRS.com or SouthCentralTNGMRS.com into any browser to be brought back here to the club page. (capitalization are not necessary). Pretty nifty eh. Pass it along to your friends. Welcome to the GMRS fam, brotha! Glad to have you. I can't get out to most of the repeaters you monitor, but I'm always monitoring Brentwood 600, if you're able to get out to that one. As a matter of fact, this club has a check-in net on that repeater on Wednesday evenings at 8pm. So key up over there with us whenever you're available and if you can hit that one. I also may be able to make contact with ya via Lebanon 675. Glad to test that sometime with ya. Hopefully I can hit the repeaters a little further south once i get my antenna and base station (finally) setup.

We're moving the club's Wednesday night nets to the Brentwood repeater at 462.600. Tone is 123.0 in/out. Everyone that can hit the Brentwood Grasslands repeater at 462.650 (former location of the net) should be able to hit the Brentwood repeater at 600 just as well. I wish I could provide some help, but that question is out of my wheelhouse. I sure hope some folks that have much more technical knowledge than I can help you figure out your rx and/or tx issue at the affected location. I hope to learn something in the process, as well.

Welcome Tim! Jeffrey Davis, WSDV406 here, in Hermitage. The Gallatin Repeater at 650 is by far the most active that I hear, in the area I'm able to monitor at least. Other than that, Brentwood 600 and Brentwood Grasslands (also at 650) are the next most active for me. I can't currently reach a lot of yall's great repeaters further south with my current setup. Welcome Seth! I'll start monitoring Murfreesboro a little more. I can RX it, but don't think i come through on TX.....not until I get my antenna up on the outside of the house. Same with Lebanon for me. I can communicate clearly through Brentwood and Grasslands though.

Yes indeed. They play Battleship by Radio on the Gallatin repeater at 462.650 (141.3Hz in/out) on Wednesdays at 730pm. The Gallatin repeater bleeds over with the Brentwood "Grasslands" repeater (same frequency, different tone).

Welcome, and glad you're putting that license to use! I recommend (and use) the tid radio h3 and h8. You'll definitely want a few extra batteries if you go that HT route.

Interesting. I actually heard somebody on the Gallatin repeater this afternoon expressing that they were having the same issue. Was that you? I can't recall the call sign of the person that was expressing that issue. I'll say this, I have a couple of h3's and a couple of h8's (and ive programmed several of both for other people), can I have had 1 lemon. It would receive wouldn't transmit, the programming wouldn't stick, and a few other weird issues. So my first bit of advice to you would be order a new one and see if everything works as it should. If it does, then you simply just had a lemon. My second bit of advice would be to unlock it. That's the way I use all of my h3 and H8 radios. See if things work right once the restrictions of GMRS mode are gone.

What mode is your TD-H3 in (GMRS, HAM, Unlocked)? Do you have your repeater channel offsets setup properly?

Nice! Glad yall are enjoying those UV5G+ radios! I hear those are awesome! Note that the Baofeng AR-5RM radio is basically a clone of the UV5G+/UV5RM, BUT is unlocked. So take that for what it's worth. I know that I love having more monitoring options (and transmitting options -- when properly licensed or in emergency situations). Either way, welcome to the GMRS radio world and I look forward to making contact with ya!

The Tid H8 is supposedly a 10w HT radio. I don't have equipment to measure that claim (I forget what that meter is called). But I will say that I get better "mileage" out of my h8 over my h3. What I mean by mileage is that the radio doesn't heat up as fast. And the difference is ABSOLUTELY noticeable. Even when transmitting on high power. That said, I don't have difference hitting my preferred repeaters (gallatin, brentwood, brentwood grasslands, & lebanon) with either the H3 or H8. But the H8 just seems to "go for longer" -- that's what she said -- before my signal starts to degrade. I'll say this. The tone of the speaker on the H8 is MUCH more pleasant than the H3 also, if that matters to you. It's a bit more full and not so thin and sharp. So there's that.

Let's hear about (and/or see pics of) what gear everyone uses. I'll go first....... I use a TidRadio TD-H8, mounted to my office desk, with a plug-in handheld speaker/mic as my "base station" for now. I carry a TidRadio TD-H3 as my "mobile" in the car. And I pretend that they're way more capable than they are. (but also, they're pretty amazingly capable with the great repeaters we have in the area).

WSDV406 here. Jeffrey, in Hermitage. I am VERY likely able to host the Gallatin 650 check-in. Do you want to add the Lebanon repeater at 462.675 and nashville (love circle) repeater at 462.575 to the list? I might could host those too. Those repeaters aren't super active, but they have a wide footprint like the brentwood and gallatin repeaters.

Hey yall. Jeffrey Davis here. WSDV406. I'm in Hermitage. I'm only on HT for now -- either a Baofeng UV-5R or a Tid H3 -- and I monitor all of the local repeaters that I can hit, but I'm on the Brentwood and Nashville (Love Circle) and Lebanon 675 repeaters most often. I talked to someone transmitting on the Brentwood repeater from Columbia and I was transmitting from central Mount Juliet. They told me about this group and I'm glad to make yall's acquaintance. I'm pretty new to radio, so I'm always glad to chat and accept any help and advice anyone wishes to share.
