It is true that GMRS is all effort, dedication and money as you say a good equipment is expensive in general everything that involves setting up a reliable repeater station. I also agree with you 100% and I am totally opposed to turn GMRS into a for-profit business. I am also of those who share the idea of publishing the station in GMRS so that other future repeaters know that you are in the area. around here in northern philadelphia Pennsylvania there are many stations that are active and are not registered on the site plus the traffic is scarce or occasional. of course it is not mandatory to register them anywhere, but it would be good to do it. In conclusion, our goal is to make GMRS another method of communication without depending on the cellular network and also the Internet. To make our families and friends in general have at least another type of link with their relatives in case of emergencies of any nature.

Repeater open to all or not? Everything is almost ready, but we are still debating whether it will be an open repeater system or not...we are in Northeast Philly. Any opinions from those more experienced would be helpful. Thanks MyGMRS.

WROZ250 The three repeaters are similar in characteristics Motorola gr1225 10 watt the three antennas of the same model and manufacturer in terms of elevation above sea level are relatively the same except for the difference of a few feet.

We plan to install three repeaters on the same frequency in a triangular geographic location approximately 25 miles apart. All three repeaters are of the same type. Motorola GR1225 10Watt. Question : What problems would this type of installation bring to our Repeater and the other Repeaters in the area? Will we be violating any FCC guidelines on GMRS? . We would appreciate your opinions.

Personally I prefer 20. I have a repeater on (19) #27 and it happens that another repeater on the same channel more than 25 miles away often overlap each other when they coincide in their duty cycle.

I talked to Chris at Motorola Solution on the phone and they do not provide technical support for GR1225. He referred me to a ham radio club but nothing else, I will continue to investigate who does this type of work.
