  1. Good to know. I’ll have to look into that. I heard they are basically the same radio just one is digital and one is not so I may have to do the same
  2. I recently picked up The Baofeng DM-32 DMR to add to the collection. The stock antenna seems to be ok at best, so i'm thinking of upgrading, any ideas or suggestions as to what would be a better fit would be appreciated. I'M LEANING TOWARDS THE NAGOYA -771
  3. i think you will be pretty happy with it, cant go wrong with Blue!!!
  4. I have this radio, and it is my goto handheld. So far i have had no issues with even thinking about needing a different antenna. I can consistently hit four different repeaters from inside my house that are all over 25 to 35 miles away. Now to answer your questions about the removable antenna. Earlier models had a healthy dab of glue on the threads. Mine however did not, it came off with little to no effort, it is hit or miss. I caution you on trying force it off as some have tried and ruined their radios. As stated earlier, this little handheld really does do great with the stock antenna, but if you really want to replace it, turn it very very slowly, lol.
  5. I would agree with this 100%. Cougar is back up and running, and between the two, you have a ton of area covered. I see why you want to hit Gold Mtn based on your location. Remember with Gold, the repeater will Not Kerchunk when you key up to see if your hitting it, they have it set up this way on purpose. There is a link they should have sent you for their discussion groups with a lot of info on their club etc.
  6. Unfortunately i do not. Jamie is usually pretty good about getting back to you or having someone do that with the tones for Gold MTN.
  7. Gold Mtn may have you join the club to get the correct tones. They had an issue a while back with a Jammer so they changed the tones and are reluctant to let them known without a membership. Good group of guys in the club though so it may be worth it to join to have access.
  8. I have this radio in the Ar-5rRM version, which is an extremely reliable and capable radio. Some will argue that it has less then desirable Spurious emissions, whatever!!!!! I think for the cost, Baofeng has been stepping it lately and i hope it continues. My daily Handheld that i use most often is a Wouxun KG Q10g, and it is all because i subscribe to notarubicon and i seem to not be able to walk away and not make another purchase i probably don't need. latest edition is a Baofeng DM32-DMR, Once again Baofeng is stepping up their game a bit here.
  9. I run an MXT 575, works every time, built like a tank.
  10. Nice app, well done!!!
  11. Congrats on being part of GMRS. With that said, the radios themselves can be frustrating at first to set up correctly. There are some great YouTube videos that explain this very well, check out (NotaRubicon) as well as some as well as others on youtube. if you feel like you have the frequencies and tones set up correctly drive to the repeater and key up, if you get a static back, your hitting the repeater. Chirp software is a great tool that makes setting things up easy if your radio is compatible. Good luck and most on here are a wealth of knowledge that are willing to help.
  12. yep, direct wiring is going to be your best bet.
  13. I'm eyeing that one as well for my truck also, waiting for it to go on sale then pulling the trigger.
  14. To add, it does not play well with chirp. If not for some of the members on here helping with that i would still be frustrated. Once i got it to shake hands with chirp it programmed fine.
  15. I was torn on this radio due to the price and some of the other issues they were having with it and almost went with the UV-5G Plus. In the end I decided to spend the extra Monies, crossed my fingers and eded up purchasing the KG-Q10g (it's notarubicons fault). I have owned and currently own some Boefengs and the Q-10 just seems to perform better, I have no problem hitting my loaded repeaters, sound quality is excellent and the feedback i get from others is that is comes through loud and clear on the transmission end. Build quality seems to be fairly stout overall, and the not removable antennae was actually not even glued on, so there is that as a plus. So far no regrets on this purchase.
