  1. I’ve been looking into this too as an alternative to a dedicated power supply. How is the volume of the charger unit when the fan is running?
  2. "Use the Up Arrow and Down Arrow buttons to change your setting from "CH" to either "NAME" or "FREQ" as you desire" What's odd here is that there are three options: NAME, FREQ, and CH. And the VFO doesn't work when the CH is selected. No idea what that's about but hey, thanks for setting me straight and getting things working.
  3. Honestly, that's a funny response. It turned out to be a ID10T error instead of a radio issue. And seriously, this is an $80 radio that seems to work perfectly so far... Haters gotta hate I guess.
  4. Wow, I didn't try it before but just did it now and it did work. So basically the radio won't let me change to VFO mode if I have it set to display the Name instead of the frequency? If so that is really odd, but oh well, it is an $80 radio... Yes, I opened up mine to full transmit mode.
  5. Yeah, I ended up buying a Bluetti EB3A and it seems to do the trick. The DB20-G shows 13.5v on the screen and transmits at high without any issues.
  6. That only controls what is displayed on the screen; The channel name or the frequency of the channel. I am trying to switch to VFO mode so I can enter in a specific frequency, which the DB20-G isn't allowing.
  7. On my Radioddity DB20-g I have switched between V/M many times without any issues, but today the V/M button just beeps at me and doesn't switch out of Memory mode. Not sure if I mistakenly changed something in the Functions menu or something else. Has anyone experienced this or have any suggestion on how to get back into VFO mode?
  8. I assume it's a partitioning of channels that can help keep separate channel settings for different locations.
  9. I was watching NotARubicon's video review of the Radioddity DB20-G and in that he is using a Jackery Explorer 1000 to power the radio. Looking at the specs, the Jackery is showing a 12v/10a output. That Jackery unit is pretty expensive because of it's capacity, but that got me wondering what about smaller capacity portable power units. I noticed another portable power option in some other video, the Bluetti EB32, which also puts out the similar numbers of 12v/10a with a 120w max output. Would this work as an adequate home base power supply for the DB20-G? My thinking is that having this portable power supply could do daily duty as a radio power supply, and then as a portable power option whenever traveling/camping/etc.
  10. I have an old Macbook Air (Intel based) and just downloaded the latest Mac version of Chirp. I didn't, however, get the Bank assignment to work. I keep getting an error that the Banks are locked. Not sure what that's about.
  11. I'm in a similar situation regarding programming the GM-30 Plus. I don't have a Windows laptop so I can't use the Radioddity software. After your post I tried to use the Baofeng UV-17ProGPS and it worked - thank you!
  12. I'll need to think about this some more - thanks for the perspective.
  13. So maybe something like the Pyramid PS14KX Bench Power Supply AC-to-DC Power Converter (12 Amp) would be sufficient for the DB20-G? Technical Specs: Amperage: 12.0 AMP (Constant), 14.0 AMP (Surge) Connectors/Hardwire Terminals: Red Positive (+), Black Negative (-) Power Output: 13.8V DC
  14. Definitely will be doing two separate antennas. Any suggestions for a modest priced adapter that would match the needs of the DB-20G?
  15. Ugh, math is not my strong suit. So I am guessing the (basic) cigarette lighter adapter ones listed on Amazon, like AC to DC Converter 12V 5A 60W 100-240V to 12V Car Cigarette Lighter Socket AC/DC Power Adapter Power Supply, is not going to cut it. Something more substantial then will be needed. Any recommendations or pointers?
