From where the repeater is on the map, less than 3 miles and it shows about 10 miles range

I'm using this radio and these instructions:

On the BF-F8HP it doesn't have this setting, it lets me manually set the frequency directly, I'm not using the preset channels. I am getting the squelch tail noise on the first one. I just tried in reverse, same. I'm looking to see if I am missing something in the F8HP

I am getting that "feedback" after I'm done transmitting, yes

I went outside with one and left the other in my office with my phone recording, heard nothing. I know it must be something I'm doing wrong

Hopefully the listing caught your attention. I used to know how to setup my BF-F8HP and I live in Stuart, Florida and we have a repeater on 462.625 and it shows input and output tones of 136.5, which I setup in the radio via R-CTCSS and T-CTCSS as 136.5 and my offset is 5MHZ+. I know there may not be others on the repeater; however, my other Baofeng I setup the same way and cannot hear when I transit. Am I missing something that is painfully obvious?
