  1. I have been surfing the net and have not found a download for programing software for these two machines (KPG 66D & KPG 91D). I am not looking for free stuff but would be nice. $100 for membership and etc seems a little more than I need. I have found a site selling but shows a picture of floppy drives. I havent had a machine with those in years. I'm not expecting free but downloadable from a creditable source. Any direction?
  2. how do you feel about the Btech UV-25X4?
  3. Finally! Checked in on a local net and got to talk to real humans!!!!! Totally stoked, rabbit hole, here I come!
  4. Noted, Sir. I think I will go with two radios with a price point that is palatable and play. Having said that, I will continue to actively work the bands with the HT on an aerial antenna. Thank you for your time again. I just didnt want to get a radio(s) that would be next to the treadmill and bread maker in the garage....
  5. My mistake, I am guilty of being vague. I am looking for a station which can reasonably handle all bands I have voice privileges on (6m and up). Agreed the spectrum scope seems helpful. I am initially interested in building antennas. The contact thing will be fun once I find folks on the air but I need to spend more time searching for traffic instead of just 'scanning'. I programed my HT with all local repeaters within 25 miles but only heard one organized net one time. I am investigating the local HAM clubs.
  6. I got my tech license recently and I am excited to get going. I have a HT and find it interesting but I am looking for a budget friendly base station for the general bands I am authorized to use. Budget friendly means under $800 for a radio that has room for me to grow and not limiting in a short time. Thank you in advance for your suggestions. P.S. I have Radioddity and BTech GMRS bases, Radioddity and Bufwang HT's. I am not brand loyal so.....
  7. Noted Sir and welcome! I'm reaching into building antennas....
  8. I told the people at work that 'I identify as WSEL330' spoken phonetically. HR hates me.
  9. You could try to Fox hunt it AND what about the skid marks in the driveway?
  10. I realize that I am sliding down this radio rabbit hole. I cobbled together a 'repeater' with 2 GMRS50-V2's (BTech). I attempted to use a Surecom SR628 plugged into each ones K1 adapters. That didn't work. I looked at the rj45 schematics and saw that the pin2, for RPT CTRL, doesn't even go to the k1 side of the adapter. OK, line from external speaker jack(no data on that plug) on receive radio to K1 on transmit radio and put that one on VOX. It operates but it doesn't sound good (of course I do not have a second person to help test it so I used an HT with ear piece and my vehicle mobile rig to test at about 150' from the antenna). The BTech has an option for 'REP-M' describes 'Repeater Forwarding Mode (X-band repeater with 2 BTECH Mobiles)'. I have a feeling X band is something i am ignorant to. previous sentence sets up this thought, could I plug in a RJ45 jumper to both? Not really confident in that one. SOO, I googled some stuff with an idea. Will K1RFD Echostation work as a repeater controller with my PC and the two radios plugged into it with the programing cables (RJ45-USB). I totally spiraling towards getting a legit repeater but I am working and learning with what I have. OR anyone able to set up two Radioddy DB 40g's as repeaters? and how?
  11. Outta curiosity or gaps in my education, Duplexer or no. I'm guessing the RF's occupying the same antenna would still be a problem. If a duplexer is used, would it have to be purpose built or just tuned?

  13. "I used the PFM" love that sh&$!
  14. (thinking, Is he talking about me?) LMAO
  15. You mean you heard from a friend how they did that. Be careful, you don't want to go to radio jail where they desense you and you have to constantly remind them that you do use your call sign....
