  1. I am the owner of the repeater in Mountain Home. Unfortunately, it has been offline for a while. I used to have an elevated site that would possibly reach out to Twin. I also have a 220 MHz amateur repeater that was on the hill and I had regular contacts with hams in Twin on that machine. Unfortunately, amateur radio politics ended up pissing off county officials and they kicked me off the site. I'm working on getting access again but it's a slow process when you are trying to work with folks who are ignorant of all things RF.

I found that there are repeaters in Caldwell and Kuna that are on the same frequency that I selected so I will be changing the frequency when I put it back on the air. I am moving it from 550 to 675. Once I have it back on the air, I hope that everyone in southern Idaho uses it. It troubles me to spend a ton of time, money, and effort on a machine just to hear it sit idle with no traffic. I have close to $4000 in my 220 machine and it gets used for less than ten minutes a week I'd say. Sad.

  2. Did you ever figure out the issue?

My node has started giving connection failed when trying to connect To hubs that I’ve previously connected to.

But my other node Appears to work fine still

Connecting to the Midwest Hub would be the proper way. I recently added the state hubs to allow us options as we have a lot of traffic. I am talking to Rich about the connection issue, not sure whats going on.

  3. I just went through this with a few b tech 50x1s

so each of the freqs 1-30 are hard coded to the radio and cant be changed....

1-7 ar the frs/gmrs and low power, you can change the name and the tone but the freq and power will always revert back to the factory set.

8-14 and set for frs 8-14 and are RX ONLY

15-30 are able to go to the High power TX,

23-30 are the repeater input spots, so if you need to program a repeater freq or a 550 repeater then it HAS to go on the slot 23 and 575 on 24 ect

thus you are not able to program multiples of the same freq but different slots...

    31-256 are RX only

IF you try to add, say 462.550 it will work as expected if put into slot  15, but if you try to put 462.550 into slot 16 everything appears to be ok, until you write to the radio, slot 16 will change back to 462.575 even though the name you added and tone are saved.

the same is true for the repeater channels, they can only be in the 23-30 slots on chirp, 23 being 15 in etc

    hope this helps someone out.

  4. Hello,

I recently got my ham call sign, I also received my GMRS Call sign to use with my wife and kids.

I am unclear on how this will work... I understand the GMRS  license covers your intimidate family.  So would we all use the came call sign? or would I use it at the start of the contact.?

coming from the Ham side I am leaning to the use at the start of contact then 10 min etc etc, but I cant find the proper use with multiple people under the same call sign.

    thanks for any input.
