About Me

Started out in Class D CB - KPJ 1093.  Founded North Shore Emergency Association, summer, 1966  Worked part-time as Police and Fire Dispatcher, and then as mobile  telephone operator (VHF manual, pre-dating IMTS and Cellular).   First licensed in Class A Citizens' Radio Service 1970, KAA 8142.  Put 1st cooperative shared use licensed Class A repeater in the US on the air, January, 1970 (.675).  First REACT Team with Class A repeater, 1970 (C-479).  

 

Served as one of ten Task Coordinators in the FCC's Congressionally Chartered Personal Use Radio Advisory Committee (PURAC), 1976-78.  Demonstrated transportable Class A repeater system to REACT teams from Virginia to Massachusetts and in between, 1976-78.  Established common REACT Class A frequency of .675.  In cooperation with National Capitol REACT (NCR), established common Class A "travel tone" of 141.3, 1976.  Co-founder of Personal Radio Steering Group (PRSG), 1978-9.  

 

Veteran, U.S. Naval Reserve, 3 years' active duty, YN2.  Former Assistant State's Attorney (criminal prosecutor), Lake County, Illinois.  Now in private practice of law.  Served as Communications Chairman, American National Red Cross Disaster Service, Mid-America Chapter, North Region.  Served on local municipal E911 Telephone System Board.  Configured system and ran Net Control - Class A radio net for Chicago Marathon, Doctor and Ambulance high priority for 6 years.

 

Presented live "ex-parte" arguments to meeting with 4 FCC staff members at FCC Washington (Docket 10-119) in support of licensing and GMRS user perspectives, 2011.  Extensive mobile operating experience in GMRS in all 50 states (including Hawaii and Alaska), D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
