  1. The HOA would go crazy if I built a tower. Trees aren't that tall. My house is two story. What I wanted to do is mount it to the top of the right outer wall. EDIT: why is this so cheap, is it good? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dual-Band-VHF-UHF-Base-Antenna-Ham-Commercial-MURS-GMRS-FRS-DBJ-1-/111415925312?pt=US_Radio_Comm_Antennas&hash=item19f0e81a40
  2. I remember someone saying to me once, "when it comes to UHF, hight is might" The hight of my tree line is about 30' - 50' similar to yours. What antenna would you reccomend for the rooftop monunting? Also, do you think I should get a new radio for a higher watt output?
  3. I'm using a 5 watt Baofeng UV-5R v2+ with a Nagoya antenna. I can reach a repeater 15 miles away with it, but that's a 2m repeater. Also, I monitered the ones John gave me last night, it was dead silence.
  4. I would think Baltimore is out of range far away, but I will try. EDIT: Both of them are either out of range, or offline.
  5. Hey, I've tried almost every maryland GMRS repeater listed on here. None of them seem to work. Does anyone know of any GMRS repeaters in Maryland that work? There are plenty of 2m and 70cm repeaters.
  6. Hey, I've been looking for a fair priced repeater that's about 10-25w for a fair price. thanks
  7. http://www.amazon.com/Dual-Band-Improved-Stronger-Enhanced-Features/dp/B00HX03AMA This is a great little radio. I have one myself with a Nagoya antenna. It's 5 watts, and will travel a good distance on UHF and VHF. EDIT: I agree with @PastorGary get licenced in business radio for as many radios you'd need.
  8. I have the Motorola MS350's. They do work with repeaters and go a decent distance. The battery life is terrible, just use AA or some other rechargeable packs.
