  1. Also: check out this Repeater in Southwest Michigan: this would be my educated guess, based upon your reception patterns: Another tip, if your Tone search does not gain you access; is to drive near the repeater and transmit simplex on 625 when the Repeater is not operating and ask for information about the repeater. Perhaps a Repeater user will hear you simplex on the Output and respond either simplex or through the Repeater, and in either case, you should hear their responses. If they come back to you through the Repeater while you are transmitting on the Output simplex, be sure to wait for the Repeater's RF signal to go offline before transmitting again, as the Repeater would probably overwhelm your signal with the FM "capture" effect.
  2. Hello and Welcome to GMRS and myGMRS Forum. Obviously someone in your area with first hand knowledge would provide the most accurate information. In the meantime, here are the Repeaters for Indiana on 625 from the myGMRS database, with maps listed in order: Be aware that the repeater you are hearing might be using split tones: that is a different tone on the input than on the output. If you can travel closer to where you think the repeater is located, listen to the input on 467.625 and tone scan anyone you can hear on the Input, you may discover a different tone. Also, for now, I recommend that you do not use a Receive Tone; leave that open to all communications for now. You only need the Transmit Tone to gain access.
  3. You need a good nights sleep! Ciao!
  4. I either did or I didn’t: either way I would not want you to be sad wondering who cares about your feelings, as I quoted you when I made that statement. If I didn’t all the better ?
  5. Remember now? Where can I find those articles you read?
  6. With all due respect I was quoting and responding to YOUR post about articles indicating the Baofengs were window dressing; and It’s not politics to talk about the use of Baofengs during the commission of a crime!; which is exactly what YOU were doing!
  7. Marc: Do I understand correctly that you rely on your ability to manually disconnect your antenna system outside the house at the commencement of lightning strikes?!? What happens in the middle of the night? When you are away from your home? etc...
  8. My point was to check with your tax advisor, but now that you mention these facts, I think I was thinking about the Pandemic Unemployment Benefits I received in 2020-2021 from my full time Uber driving pre-Pandemic. It is unemployment benefits that become taxable depending upon your other income. Sorry for the confusion! Nevertheless: check with your tax advisor!
  9. Let us know how it works out for you, Chris! If you have an extra HT, have a family member (covered by your GMRS license) attempt to talk to you through a repeater as you drive around to see its coverage range.
  10. Congratulations and Welcome! In a somewhat controversial position, my attitude is that if the repeater listing here on myGMRS does not say Permission Required, I try to contact someone on the actual repeater and ask for details. More often than not, they are friendly and are happy to let me know how to use their repeater. I live in the greater Los Angeles area and sometimes go "war driving" for both GMRS and Ham repeaters, with my tone scanning HT and discovered many new repeater friends that way. On the Ham side, I then send updated information to the CalTech (W6JPL) Southern California VHF/UHF Repeater Lists for their online listings. There does not appear to be any such mechanism here on myGMRS for such updated information from the user and not the owner.
  11. Speaking of Social Security and taxes: my medicare Part A&B premium (Not my Supplement) which is automatically deducted from my monthly Social Security payment went from $148.50 per month in 2021 to a new January 2022 deduction of $442.30! I am trying to get ahold of Social Security/Medicare to find out what the basis of the increase is. Any ideas?
  12. My guess is that if you qualify for no federal tax on your Social Security, you are not in any economic position to be buying legacy radio equipment on eBay! Selling off your inventory of radios... YES!
  13. A radio buddy with both GMRS and Tech Ham, is getting the Quad Band TYT mobile radio that includes 10 Meters and I am going to try to figure out a way we can cross communicate on 10 Meters so he can learn some Morse Code!
  14. I certainly did not intend to hurt your feelings...
  15. I rarely use receive tones. They are generally only needed if you have interference from another repeater on the same frequency If you program in the wrong receive frequency it’s possible that you will hear nothing Most likely a Morse code ID is from a Repeater If you can record the Motse code ID, post it here and we can reverse engineer it for you to determine who owns the repeater and see if it’s in the myGMRS database
  16. Oh My Gosh: a pun on a typo! About a polarizing subject!! In a thread about Baofengs spurious emissions?!?
  17. Explain to me the utility of these features; since they seem to only be available to channel information already manually written into the DB20-G software I like to keep a master list of channels in a format that is easily edited in Excel: csv. Then, when I need to make an update or modification, I can do so in the Excel master version and then export/import into the various programs for my radios that have this function in the CPS programming software. For example for my TYT-88UV, I can use CHIRP for such importing, and then go back to the TYT software to read the newly updated and modified codeplug and then make changes as needed that are only available in the TYT software and not in CHIRP. Yes, a rewritten program from source code, or at a minimum CHIRP would be a big solution to this problem.
  18. Until a link is established, if ever, to the 725 Los Angeles GMRS repeater, try this: K6MWT 147.4350 MHz Los Angeles Renegade 2-Meter Repeater Do not listen if children or other sensitive ears are present.
  19. Apparently your opinion on many issues "is blowing in the wind..." Your style of discourse makes it difficult for a person like me to attempt to show agreement where appropriate and yet rebut where it is not. The problem is that you often call me out to go into more detail about something I may have posted and yet... When you get more information from me, if you disagree you paint it with side issues, like: politics, or worse: So, in the future I will attempt to ignore your protestations for more information from me, so I will not fall into your trap once again
  20. Yes, I now also have two (mine are the clone Anytone AT-779UV): one in my car (my first mobile in 60 years in wireless radio) and now one in my shack. I only have three concerns for improvement: The CPS programming software does not allow for import/export and requires a full rewrite when making major changes. I have ameliorated this problem somewhat by making categories and leaving blank channels between categories for easy insertion later for growth. It cannot scan for tones being used by others on the input and output channels of repeaters. I work around this problem with a $30 HT that has this feature. I am waiting for the DB50-G: if they can do 18/20 watts for $99; a 50 watt version that beats the market prices of $399 down to $369 of the other models at that high power. Absolutely! I only reflected on the negative or missing items; you should also let the readers know its advantages, which are numerous, as well.
  21. Jersey Girl - Liv Tyler NICE! ?
  22. I was considering an apology until I read that it was your choice to move there! ? Since I'm not from NY, I really have no feud with New Jersey. Having spent time in Montana, they really have a feud with North Dakota!
  23. Thank you. Perhaps, but more importantly, time will tell us which side was correct about the guilt or lack thereof! ? At the end of the day, it is hard to argue that "breaking and entering" into the US Capitol is not a crime. And it's doubtful that President Biden will be issuing any pardons in the matter, either!
