The county Jail uses GMRS 20, 462.675 between floors, I hear them almost daily leaving work.
I think there is only about a half dozen GMRS users in the whole county.
I do occasionally here someone (unlicensed) bounce off the repeater.
Then there is a few kids with GMRS radios around, though never hit the repeater.
Those that do find the repeater, I invite them to get a license.
99% of the time no one ever uses it. Just our family.

We hear the same thing on the roads.. A lot of nothing and people that dont respond (probably using privacy codes)..
When offroading, the official GMRS channel is 16.. This a scientific fact because is "offroading" = "4 X 4" and 4 x 4 = 16 .. so this is the scientific answer to the question - it is explained in more detail in this video made by some Youtube clown:

Although I myself don’t use and am not a fan of roger beeps, if you have the option on your radios to turn off “squelch tale” and you have family members or friends that are new to radio, the roger beep actually serves a valid purpose of signifying that the transmission has ended. We shouldn’t belittle or berate anyone that chooses to use them. If it bothers you that much simply listen to a different frequency. The roger beep can be a very useful and helpful tool at times but regardless of that, each and every operator is able to decide for themselves whether to enable or disable the feature on their radios.
Stay healthy, well, safe and in spite of the roger beeps, happy !

So I know this project is to link repeaters together and that's great but what if I am not near enough to a repeater, especially a linked repeater to use it successfully with a 5W handheld or even a 50W Mobile? I'm not ready to put up a repeater yet! I have researched the site and all I find is hardware/software to link repeaters. Someone point me in the general direction to get my radios access to this linked system over the internet please. Linked or unlinked, repeaters are sparse here in south Central Texas...
