  1. 100% correct. This pretty much sums it up.
  2. I think it’s a great idea.
  3. Most of the above post sounds like 11 meter crap to me. Very sad.
  4. You have the power to change that. Getting a ham ticket is easier now then ever. Take the plunge you’ll be happy you did.
  5. Thanks for posting. Sometime in the near future we need to organize a meet and greet for your club.
  6. I could see this becoming a topic of discussion soon. LOL
  7. Grow up ! What the hell is wrong with you ?
  8. LMAO ! Just need to add some finger nail polish.
  9. Unfortunately I believe this is correct. I live in the Chicagoland area and it’s starting to sound just like CB .
  10. Good question. I have been waiting myself. Most venders keep pushing the date back for when they will be in stock.
  11. I hate when that happens. Good thing everything is back to normal.
  12. Definitely agree with all the above post. I truly believe they are the best bang for your buck when it comes to CCR’S. God know’s I’ve got a pile of them. I can’t help myself. Lol
  13. Congratulations on your new shortwave radio purchase. My best advice is to lay out a piece of copper wire as long as possible and connect it to the radio by means of the bnc connector or alligator clip it to the telescopic antenna. You will have much better luck than the GMRS antenna. P.S. don’t let anyone tell you there’s nothing left to listen to on shortwave, they are wrong. Have fun.
  14. Don’t push him toward amateur radio. We also have enough garbage already.
  15. I have used the Tram 1477 and it will tune up fine for GMRS. Like everyone has said above, get the tram a good five ft. Above the dish and purchase some decent 400 coax and your problems should disappear. Good luck. Don’t hesitate to ask more questions if you have problems going forward.
  16. Couple of questions. What antenna are you working with ? Type of coax ? How far away is the repeater ?
  17. This guy just doesn’t know when to stop.
  18. Welcome ! A cheap mag mount tuned for Gmrs may be a temporary fix with decent results. Remember stick it on a pie or pizza pan for a ground plane. As mentioned above that left over coax will probably be a know go. Have fun and welcome to the hobby.
  19. I politely ask them to repeat the call so I can put it on paper for myself. If they seem cranky about repeating the call you know you don’t need to speak with them in the future. At least that’s how I handle it. Good luck and enjoy.
  20. Try setting squelch to one.
  21. How long ago did you make the request ? You have to give them some time. Maybe a few days or more. Good luck and enjoy GMRS.
  22. You may be on to something there. I like the way you think.
  23. I hide everything in my truck. It’s my mobile man cave. Lol
  24. I can’t imagine using someone else’s equipment without asking first. It’s so simple it’s crazy. Doesn’t matter if it’s a mower, chainsaw or a repeater. JUST ASK . It’s the proper thing to do. Why is this so hard for people ?
  25. Grounding Amateur radio and Amateur radio antenna’s are different from Gmrs radio’s and antennas ? Please explain. I think anyone would benefit from WRQW589 post.
