I'm in Cookeville. I just got hooked up to that repeater. It's got pretty good range. There are others in East TN as well. Once you get the programming down it's not hard I'm learning. Sent from my SM-T860 using Tapatalk

I'm happy to say that the guidance given by you guys had worked nicely. Thank you very much. Sent from my SM-T860 using Tapatalk

I do have the latest version of chirp. I'm taking the laptop with me so I can adjust on the fly. Ugh Sent from my SM-T860 using Tapatalk

And if your are trying to utilize GMRS and FRS you are probably locked out, tho I've read there is an unlock process that works and is easy. Literally hold some buttons and turn the radio on. Sent from my SM-T860 using Tapatalk

Knowing = power Now I know this. Here are the current settings. The offset value is automatic on the uv-82hp so it shows 000.000 no matter what. Sent from my SM-T860 using Tapatalk

Now I'm frustrated. The offset while set in chirp is not going to the radio. Uv-82hp I may have to manually program from the radio. Sent from my SM-T860 using Tapatalk

I don't have an option to turn it off in chirp. What you see in this drop are my options. Sent from my SM-T860 using Tapatalk

I don't live near a GMRS repeater so I have no way to get this sorted locally. I'm wanting to program repeaters along a route to my brother's place. If for any reason to teach myself how. I'm wanting to use chirp so I can populate this with my other radios the family might use. Could someone please let me know if I've got it wrong and advise me. I've watched notarubicon and his vid. I think I'm good but can't check. TIA ETA this is for my fengs until I get the kg-uv9gx. Sent from my SM-T860 using Tapatalk

Looking at buying a new GMRS radio, suggestions plz?

I am back ordered on the Wouxun UV9GX. Dunno if I can wait tho. LOL This will be my first GMRS dedicated radio. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk -
No worries. I'm sure it's something I did wrong. At least there will be a sad GMRS expert that will tell me before long. LOL Sent from my SM-T860 using Tapatalk

I'll check. Thought I did. And it sends me the reset link so... Sent from my SM-T860 using Tapatalk

I have an account. When I go to reset it sends me the link (I even use my call sign to get the email sent). I enter a new password 2x. Then that doesn't work. Like I said I've done it twice. Sent from my SM-T860 using Tapatalk

Pretty freaking frustrated and disgusted right now. Attempting to log on to this website so that I can research some stuff and while trying to log on to the website it doesn't recognize my credentials. I go into forgot password mode like a good little boy and it still won't recognize it. I do it again, still won't recognize the change do it again still won't recognize the change ensuring that I do everything perfectly correct as I need to do! Now, this is not a big deal for somebody with two hands and no vision problems. I've had a stroke and I basically can only type with one hand, hell no basically to it. And then on top of that vision issues trying to go back and forth. Yeah this is ridiculous! I'm sure somebody will come on here and tell me I'm doing something wrong and I should do something different. Yeah whatever. And yes I've sent an email on the contact form. I mounted the Nagoya window lip mount. Works great for 2m/7cm. If Amazon had delivered the GMRS antenna I could have tested it. I like. The BNC setup I have makes it a piece of cake to be up in about 30 secs. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

While testing another antenna I checked this shortty. I could ping the repeater but no voice. 147.00 isn't a good freq (I knew that but still tried it) for this antenna. Oh well. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

https://bettersaferadio.com/smiley-antenna-mini-rubber-duck-465mhz-gmrs-sma-m/ I picked one of these up to put on my UV-82HP. I needed something short at the gun range so that it would be more mobile. I'm helping out a little as ar a range master, and we use FRS radios to communicate between the lodge and the lines. I was using one of the tactical antennas that folds over, and while it's a super good antenna, it's just too big to be carrying around hanging off of pocket. I wanted something small yet usable. Watching notaRubicon YouTube channel he was/is pimping the better safe radio stuff. Heck he even got me to spend $200 on a GMRS radio. Knowing how tight I am, that's quite an accomplishment. Fast forward to now, I wanted the short antenna, and I wanted to make sure that it functioned. The antenna was purchased with an adapter for a BNC connection. When I got the antenna and the additional part I was flummoxed because I couldn't figure out how in the heck to get it connected to the radio. After all I was used to SMA female to male connections of the baofeng. I'm thinking, what the heck!? And I typed off a quick email to better safe radio about the situation. So I'm standing in the kitchen, literally looking at the antenna, then looking at the connector. And then I thought what the heck why not tentatively try and twist/unscrew the current connector, which is an SMA male (which will not work with baofeng). It wasn't going to work with the Uv-82hp SMA female. So I'm holding the BNC connector and I'm looking at the antenna, and I gently go to unscrew it. Guess what it does? It unscrews, and low and behold the connector is going to attach and allow me to use the BNC connection system that I currently have set up on the radio! I felt like such an idiot. I hope this helps somebody else, not feel like an idiot. So anyway, I now have the short short rubber duck antenna attached to the radio. And just for giggles I tuned to a 2 m repeater 14.7 mi away. I'm standing in the kitchen, key up give my ham call sign, release the PTT and lo and behold the repeater answers me. This little two or three inch antenna is actually pinging the repeater 14.7 mi away! That's with the 8 watts. That's crazy as far as I'm concerned. I'm probably going to buy at least one more for my Yaesu FT65R. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

Looks like a decent option. I was hoping to use a low profile. Going thru her firewall ain't happening to her baby. I would be happy with a clamp mount tested, passed thru the firewall, then stowed to be reattached as needed. I'll need to talk to her about this. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

That's an idea. Will we be able to take advantage of the ground plane if it's stuck to her hood? Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

Good to know. Daughter lives about 90 miles away so I wouldn't know until too late. I'll need to see what she says now. Dang. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

Sorry that's not an option. Nothing permanent. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

I'm setting my daughter up with her bugout comms. I have the HT, and want to give her an antenna that will extend that range a little (about 5-6 miles) that she can put in place when needed. She has a 2022 bronco with a soft top. I need something low profile that will magnetically stick on her hood. This is not going to be intended as a permanent setup for her. Essentially she'll have an HT, with an adapter for the antenna wire. And when she is in transit she can set it up use it and take it down. It's basically so she doesn't have to have it set up constantly. Oh essentially set up a kit that she will access as needed. Your input is greatly appreciated. I'm also trying to be mindful that since it's not a full-time rig I don't want to spend a tremendous amount of money. I'm seeing those low profile antennas that use magnetic mounts on Amazon and those appeal to me simply for the convenience. TIA Sent from my SM-T860 using Tapatalk

For it to be trying to open with ie is gotta be getting saved as .HTML. Probably needs to be saved as a .CSV. That seems to be the generic file type for these programs. Sent from my SM-T860 using Tapatalk
