Hello,
I was in the market to purchase a +6db antenna from Midland and came across this comment in the review. I currently have a +3db Ghost antenna on my truck and live in a mountainous area. Is this accurate? Can someone help me understand why/how?
I bought this as an upgrade for my MXT275 GMRS radio. I've used that radio with its stock antenna (2.1dB), the Ghost antenna (3dB) and now this 6dB antenna. Obviously this one is going to give the best reception, and the best transmission characteristics under most terrain. If you are communicating over really mountainous terrain, the 3db Ghost may be a better choice since it focuses the RF power over a broader vertical range. A 6db antenna will focus the RF power over a narrower vertical range to achieve greater propagation distance over the horizontal plane.
