All right, just found this page, a year later. Never saw any notes about activity in here, or how to find this location till just now.

Thanks for all the info, and fun sarcasm. I understand it all. I guess I paid for the wrong license first, my gmrs, thinking I could use it most places. Mostly I hear walmart, lowes, home depot and a few others in my travels. And still trying to learn this tid h3 on adding tone in n out.   But am waiting for a replacement as the new hardware update ruined the radio.  I will be stationary for awhile, in the st louis, jefferson county, mo area. So will try to get codes dded to new chabbels whenI receive my replacement h3 gmrs/ham radio.

Happy Monday, first one in August.

I just thought I would stop by and post a quick hello since I am new to this. I got my radio all installed and got my license from the FCC.  Now it time to play and have fun here in the wet western Washington (Puyallup).

Parents live in Sequim ... I am new as well!

Hello Everyone I am new here and talked to some cool new people such as Confederate, GT, and Little truck last week. Just want to say excited to meet new people and learn more about this hobby / communication protocol. I just got mine because i did my research and found GMRS to be a good way to keep in touch in camping situations and emergency as well if it ever comes to it. Either way thank you all.

I've had my license for about 2 years and haven't had much luck connecting with anyone in my area. I'm still trying to learn, any advice or tips appreciated.Anyone in the East Tennessee area out there?

Welcome!  Click on the map link in the upper menu and find your area on the map to see if any repeaters are nearby.

Welcome to the forum.  Most folks, not all, are using GMRS for some specific activity and tend to ignore everyone else.  They may be using a CTCSS or DCS code to filter others out and won't hear you.  Just keep at it.  Make sure you are not using an CTCSS or DCS codes.  Keep scanning the channels.  Eventually you will cross paths with someone.

Thank you. That's kind of what I was thinking. I was finally able to hit a repeater but no luck lol I had got into gmrs for emergency comms with my family but figured I might as well try and connect with other people and learn as I go I reckon.

Hello & Good morning from OH. Im a super newbie lol okay maybe not that  new but not far off..lol.

I am strictly focusing on GMRS, while peeking at the book I bought for ham. I picked up a couple of h3 tidradios, and also picked up 2 of the good brand 15 inch whip antennas. I also have a few of the Bearofang ..spelling on that isn't correct, I am going to pick up another 2 pack of the Tidradios here soon and I really like them and are pretty easy to program. Sitting back reading snd listening.
