Question

Posted

Playing around today after some severe storms we had yesterday. I've noticed this afternoon, that I am able to TX from the HA1G to the GM-30's no problem, however I am not RXing on the HA1G from the GM-30's. I originally thought the PTT was broken on the GM-30 but I tried a second GM-30 and have the same issue. I've assured there are no privacy tones on either radio. I've also factory reset all three radios and continue to have the same problem.

How close are the radios to each other when you are testing?

I did start with the radios next to each other. I left the HA1G inside and went outside with one of the GM-30's walked for a ways and tried again. Same result unfortunately. I'm not sure what I'm missing. I know they have worked together in the past.

If they were working a few days ago, you changed nothing, and suddenly they aren't working, then you aren't missing anything - they have both gone defective..

OR ....

You DID change something, you're on the wrong channels, or committing some other user-error.

Had that happen to my H3.  Was in a building and wanted to see if I could hit my repeater.  I couldn't.  It was strange cause I was pretty close by.  Then I drove by it and still couldn't hit it.  Somehow my tones got changed and all I had to do is restore them and bingo, success.

It can happen.

I did update the firmware on the HA1G. Maybe that did something?

I guess another interesting note. I just turned both of the radios on again, I was able to get the HA1G to pick up one single transmission from the GM-30, immediately after depressing the PTT on the GM30 the green indicator light on the HA1G turns on constant and I can no longer receive a transmission until the radio turns off and back on again.

Update: I can get the HA1G to rx from the GM30 all the time if I have it in scan mode, but once scan is off, then we revert to the whole no RX problem.

I think I've finally sourced the issue. I did another firmware update, and completed another factory reset. This fixed the overall issue (so i thought). As I started piecing settings one by one, to try and source any further issues, i found that when you turn on the weather alert the previous issue happens. Once it is off, the radio works as it should.
