skysoldier29 Posted November 13, 2017 Report Posted November 13, 2017 I am looking for some options for a decent GMRS HT that can take a detachable antenna. The only one I can find that is Part 95 is the Baofeng GMRS radios, I was just looking for any other options before I buy. I have a few of the Baofeng Ham radios, but I want to keep it on the up and up. Quote

There's an extensive thread over on radioreference.com in the FRS/GMRS section that contains information on lots of radios that are Part 95 type accepted. Check out this section of their forum: https://forums.radioreference.com/gmrs-frs/ And, some of the previous threads here have some of the same information. Logan5 1 Quote
Logan5 Posted November 13, 2017 Report Posted November 13, 2017 there are a few options with detachable antennas, However currently the only Baofeng radio type accepted is the GMRSv1, Baofengs are good learner radios, cheap to replace if you destroy it. I have used several models and Baofeng radios are moderately rugged and decent to excellent quality, for the price, The GMRSv1 is a little higher priced but I expect similar build quality to other popular Baofeng models. Good luck choosing. Quote
PastorGary Posted November 13, 2017 Report Posted November 13, 2017 Moving this thread to the General Discussions area. The MyGMRS section of the forum is for questions and answers concerning the technical or procedural operation of the forum. Thank you. Quote
PRadio Posted November 14, 2017 Report Posted November 14, 2017 I have the Tera TR-505s. They work well and are easy to program. https://powerwerx.com/tera-tr505-gmrs-recreational-handheld-radio Quote
