Are there different male PL259 styles? Does it matter?

It's the barrel of the connector that makes the difference, there's just different ways of securing the center conductor of the coax to that pin. If it's a PL-259 it'll work.

However, there are differences in quality and impedance at various frequencies between various PL259 connectors. I would recommend staying with a good quality connector from a company that you trust rather than a generic connector from a no-name company on Amazon.

Even though the N connector is more appropriate for UHF than the SO239/PL259 combination, the PL259 is commonly referred to as “UHF connector “ whereas the N connector is not. Even in the illustration you posted the N connectors are not referred to as UHF.
