Hytera HP 702 issue with the covert mode

Hi All,

 

Was hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Setup:

HP702 -> Disco 32 CA - H4 Hytera 13 Pin - OpsCore downlead - OpsCore AMP Comm Headset

In Normal mode, the setup works exactly as expected. PTT works, headset mic works, headset plays RX audio

 

When I switch to covert mode, I lose the RX output to my headset. Radio still receives, just no output. Headset mic with Disco32 PTT still works though! Tried changing all settings I could think of and to no avail. SPK Selection: External First or External Only and no change.

 

Anyone that could point me in the right direction here?

It appears that an audio accessory must be programmed for covert mode.

So I've reached out to Disco32. Covert mode works fine with OEM PTT. Tested on two radios so I think I've safely narrowed it down to Disco 32 issue. I will post back once I hear from them.

what firmware ver is your 702 using?    Do you see that option come up on your HT Settings Menu?

Thanks for responding. It's been a week and i haven't heard back form Disco32.

I'm running on A3.1.20.008. Tried re-flashing it just in case but it didn't help with anything.

 

What option are you referring to exactly? Covert Mode? if yes then yes -> I have it programmed to one of the buttons.

 

Tested on 2 radios with identical programming. There are not many covert mode options but I've tried changing them all. Same issue on both HP702 handsets.

Normal Mode - Disco32 works with Ops Core Amp as expected.

Switch to covert mode and headset's mic still works for TX when activated via disco32 PTT, but no transmit tone coming to the headset or RX audio. I've confirmed radio is receiving, just no sound outputting to the headset. Unplug downlead and plug back in - still the same. Switch back to normal and everything works again. Switch back to covert, no audio output.

 

Both handsets work normally with OEM Hytera ACN-02-P PTT, both in normal and covert modes. So that should confirm in theory that there isn't an issue with the covert mode?

do you have covert mode activat4d in your CPM?

Yes I think so - unless I'm missing a different setting? I left the display on for troubleshooting as you can see

go to the 'General Setting/Buttons tab and make sure Covert Mode is checked (under Profiles).  Checking that should also bring the function up in your Radio front setup menu..  I never have used Covert and not sure if you will also need to set up a 'Profile'  Going into the Help Tab and searching for Covert Mode might give additional information..

Yea,, according to Cover Mode Help details.  You will also need to go into the UI Setting and select the features you want to use in Covert Mode.  Look foir 'Select Covert Feature' there in the middle.  Make sure to also check Covert Mode

Thanks again for trying to help! I think I have all of these covered - see below. As is the situation remains, in Covert only headset's mic works with the disco PTT & no tones or RX into headset. Normal mode all good. OEM PTT with 3.5mm jack works fine in both normal and Covert.

try going into your radio Menu., Select Profiles, select Covert Mode..

There's no Covert Mode profile. Covert mode is covert mode and I have it programmed to a button (SK2 Long). Profiles are separate form Covert Mode and as you can see in the screenshot there's nothing on the covert mode under individual profiles. Thanks for the effort though, much appreciated. I suppose I should hope Disco 32 gets back to me.

on my 682 in the radio settings - Settings/Profiles there is a Covert selection..  I don't have Covert programed into my radio so i can't test what it does.
