Guest Matt Posted November 19, 2025 Posted November 19, 2025 Hi, I’m trying to use this website to see if there are any repeaters I can utilize in my area. Recently moved to southeast Ky in Appalachia and I’m looking at some 5watt Rockie talkies for me and my boys when we bike, hike, fish, hunt, etc. id like to be able to access a repeater for emergency type situations if they were to arise. I think I’d probably need a garmin insight or whatever they’re called for that most likely. But I don’t see anything in my area for if I go to repeaterbook.com tha website shows repeaters in my area. Can someone explain the difference between that site and this one? Are those not gmrs repeaters? I’m very new to all of this! Thank you for the help… Quote

Then come back to this site and register with your call sign. Use the map to find GMRS repeaters in the areas that you are planning to do said activities. It is good and proper etiquette to request access to these repeaters, even if they are open. You can do that here as well. Consider also registering to this forum. Type your questions into the search box and you will most likely find the answers have been covered before. Lots of great knowledge here and friendly people. Some not so friendly too, but ya just gotta let them warm up to you. SteveShannon and NCJeb 2 Quote

WRUE951 Posted November 19, 2025 Posted November 19, 2025 the best place for GMRS repeater info is right here.. Like everyone above stated, Repeaterbook is more popular with HAMS. Never got traction with the GMRS crowd. HHD1 and SteveShannon 2 Quote

Guest Matt Posted November 20, 2025 Posted November 20, 2025 Thanks all - that makes sense. I’ll get set up here around Christmas and register with a license and starting asking questions and learning. Quote
