New rule for GMRS license

Does anyone know how the new rules apply to licensing? I still have about three years left on my current license.

My question is; with the new rule, does my license get extended to complete 10 years or do I have to re-new when my current license expires on the original five years?

Thanks for any help I can get on this issue.

You will have to renew. The fee will be the same $70, but the renewal will be good for ten years.

The new rules however took effect immediately.

I believe once you renew it'll take effect. Maybe someone who knows can give you a definite answer.

Update: Me and n4gix answered at the saaaaaame time, there is your answer :P

Thank you for the information. One issue though, when I got my license at first, I payed $90 online through the FCC site, even when most people commented that it was only $70.  Are there any other charges attached to this that I did not know at the time and that's why the extra charges?

The fees for a GMRS license have been reduced.
