Just replaced my failed base station radio with a RT97L. Getting about 6 mile radius it will cover most of the main road through town. The construction materials used in homes and densities around here make ground level communication difficult. Would like to get some opinions on this. Positive and negative to putting it up on the myGMRS map

One positive is that if someone else in the area is looking to put up a bigger/better/stronger repeater, they may (should) check the MyGMRS listings and see that your frequency is already in use - preventing interference issues.

Good point. Thanks. Your review of the 97L was a big factor in picking it up. Can’t wait to toss it in the jeep and taking up to the higher parts of AZ when I camp with a group and hike off in different directions

If its a portable unit that will be in different locations then its not worth listing. I ran one in our motorhome for years and never ran into another user on the channel If this was going to be setup in your garage and never leave there you could list it. For me noneof my repeaters are listed.

Thanks for the input. It would be out in the field 1-2 times a year. Most of my camping is out in the Sonoran desert and can just use the jeeps mobile for simplex relay or just look and see someone. Not much in the way😀. Up in the forest area is when I would use it.
