I pulled a full repeater setup out of electronics recycling, and up until this point have been using the two individual radios for railroad EOT/HOT detecting when I go trainspotting.
However, may have the opportunity to set up a repeater in a dead zone on my family property soon, and so I reassembled this as best I could, and it appears to be working in very minimal condition. The equipment is as follows:
- Radius GM300 x2 radios
- RICK controller (verified, not another model that looks like a RICK)
- Cavity duplexer
- ID-8 with keypad
I have not yet retuned the duplexer. I have a noise generator on the way and will do so with that and a spectrum analyzer. I made a saltwater dummy load.
I could not get the ID-8 to respond to reprogramming attempts and just pulled it off. I am currently looking for a replacement CWID module or replacement controller that would also offer CWID. It looks like the ID-O-MATIC IV would do the job but I’m a bit confused as to whether that would add to the RICK or replace it. Any thoughts on that?
