ICOM VE-PG2/3/4 Gateway in Bridge Mode

Hi all!  I'm curious if anyone has looked into or even set up something like the ICOM VE-PG2 (or 3 or 4) in bridge mode to connect GMRS radios over IP?  I've seen a little discussion about RoIP, but it seems to always go back to whether or not it is legal for GMRS, yet I see multiple GMRS organizations using some type of RoIP setup using something like Asterisk APP_RPT and associated equipment.

 

Is something like the ICOM VE-PG* series RoIP Gateway a viable system to use in bridge mode for GMRS?  It would seem like this is a good alternative to the other solutions.

RoIP is legal as long as it is not tied to a direct dial phone system (another words you cannot be able to make phone calls via GMRS radio)

So thats the catch, just can't make or receive phone calls and can't connect to dsl/standard telephone lines.

Most of the amateur's bridge devises need to talk thru a server on the ham network. these can't be used on GMRS. If your interested in linking jsut go t othe site and order the box. Its mostly plug and play and does what youd want.
