Turned it on and now there's no sound. I'm trying to disassemble, but can't find anything online with a parts explosion or video of disassembly, etc. Anyone have photos or other that may help? It's out of warranty, btw. Try an earphone to see if that works. If it does it might be the switch in the earphone jack. JoCoBrian 1 Quote

WRUW493 Posted April 18 Report Posted April 18 Thanks for the internal photos Lscott. Wow, look at that delightful full sized metal shield. No wonder these radios radiate well, they have a huge "ground plane" for the whip. I stand by my statement that if one puts a true and efficient (read low loss, not steel but rather copper) whip on this radio it will radiate very well indeed. Lscott 1 Quote
Davichko5650 Posted May 20 Report Posted May 20 Interesting to read the thread here. I just got the GM-30 as part of a DB-20G bundle from Radioddity via Amazon. With their coupon, got the DB-20G and the GM-30 for $118 delivered in less than 24 hours. Haven't had a chance to do a lot with it yet, programming cable also coming today, but I was able to program a couple repeaters into it on the radio, basic stuff. It's going to be an additional radio to have on hand when off-roading or around the spread getting ahold of the wife, so not sure the amount of use it'll get. but for $15.70 I figured I might as well grab onto it. I think those will be geared towards the CPS software once I get the time to try that. So far, it was very easy to program right on the radio itself. The DB-20 worked out to be $95 after the coupons and bundle deal, so, so far so good! The GM-30 was a snap to program on CPS once I got the usb driver cooking, Will mess about more with that of the weekend. For now just did the local repeaters and some outstate ones for when we go off-road. Was surprized there were some open systems with good coverage out there in the boonies in northern MN. Quote
