Question

I am new to the GMRS world and have a few question regarding setting up my radios for repeater use.

I have (2) BTECH GMRS-V1 radios and a Midland MTX400

1) when referring to DCS in/DCS out codes, lets say DCS123 in and DCS 456 out, does this mean my radio needs to be setup where it is transmitting out on DCS 123 and receive set to DCS 456 or the opposite?

2) How do I setup receive on 462.XXX and transmit on 467.XXX (two different frequencies) does my radio need to be monitoring both frequencies simultaneously then?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your time!

Cheers WRJR349

If you are using the repeater memory slot. Which should be memory 15-22.

Then no worries with the frequencies it should automatically listen to 462.xxx and transmitting on input 467.xxx. Make sure it is the right frequency.

As far as your DCS codes that sound about right.

Program it and clunk away to see if you break the repeater's squelch.

The repeater channels have the offsets built in, you don't need to worry about it. For the V1 radios, its menu 11 to 14 which you want. The person who has the repeater should be able to tell you what the TX and RX codes are.

In is TX and out is RX on your radios.

The simplex channels are the repeater output frequencies, so if you have the codes set the same on the simplex channel as the repeater, you will hear the traffic on the repeater, but won't be able to transmit to the repeater on the simplex channel.

just remember that you can only have one repeater at a time on a certain repeater freq. with the set tones with that radio...ie for us it means u either do 700north or 700south you cant do both without going into and changing the tones each time you switch
