KG-1000G use non-gmrs frequencies - HOW-TO?

I have a KG-1000G and in the manual it says it can listen on these additional bands in Frequency Mode:

KG-1000G Frequency Bands
50.000 - 53.995 MHz
108.000 - 179.995 MHz
320.000 - 349.995 MHz
400.000 - 479.995 MHz
700.000 - 985.000 MHz

 

However I'm not able to tune many of the frequencies such as 120.500.  When I enter that it gives a beep and reverts to the previously entered frequency.  Is there something else I need to enable?

So you are able to tune some, like 410.00, but then doing the exact same steps, you can't get 120.500?

Yep, that's correct.

Are you in Area A or B? Only Area A supports all the receivable frequencies. Area B is limited to 136-174.995 MHz and 400-479.995 MHz.

Sure enough - I was up in the frequency mode section page 34ish
