TD-H5 VOX setup

I tried setting up the TIDRADIO TD-H5 VOX setting in hopes I could get it to work while riding a bike so I could transmit hands-free (assuming the wind noise would not set it off).  If I set the VOX setting to one and put my mouth right up to the radio mike, the transmitter would key.  It acts like there is not enough audio to trigger the transmitter.  Setting it to 9 did not trigger it at all.  I could not get it to work with the remote mike, which is what I was hoping to do.  Anyone else ever try the VOX with this, or a similar radio?

Using VOX on a bike is probably never a great solution. Beyond the technical issue of getting it to transmit when you want and not due to wind noise is one thing, but from my experience, there are a lot of other things one says and noises one makes while riding that would trigger it... sounds and words you may not want to be transmitting!

Think about it... Just saying.

Get a boom mic with something to cut the wind noise and a PTT button.. or get a small hand mic.
