Luish19779 Posted October 17, 2022 Report Posted October 17, 2022 Hi everyone. My question is, I can use the UV-9G cable for the GMRS 9R to programming with com? Thanks Quote
0 MichaelLAX Posted October 18, 2022 Report Posted October 18, 2022 WELCOME! I do not have the UV-9G or the GMRS 9R but the $22 cable I purchased on Amazon for my original UV-5Rs has worked with every K-type HT that I own that allows for programming. Don't try to save money with cheap cables, as there are many counterfeits out there than have driver problems when installing on your computer. K-Type is the two prong audio cable that an external microphone uses to connect to our HTs and comes from Kenwood's original use of this type plug with their HTs for the last 30 years. Try it; you cannot harm the HT as long as it is K-type; and be sure to push it in ALL the way and turn the volume up to about 2/3rds. Luish19779 1 Quote
0 WRTF629 Posted October 18, 2022 Report Posted October 18, 2022 This is the cable I used with chirp to Program my numerous GMRS 9R https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XHSPJZ4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Luish19779 1 Quote
0 MichaelLAX Posted October 18, 2022 Report Posted October 18, 2022 Oh, these radios do not use K-Type connectors, they must have the so-called "waterproof" connectors. So disregard my post above! Good price, so long as it works and you can easily install the proper driver. Luish19779 1 Quote
0 Luish19779 Posted October 19, 2022 Author Report Posted October 19, 2022 The UV-5R cable is not the same one of the 5R. But thanks guys for your info. Quote
0 Luish19779 Posted October 19, 2022 Author Report Posted October 19, 2022 I ready buy the cable, but is true, too many fake cables on the internet and radios too. Quote
0 WRUV394 Posted October 26, 2022 Report Posted October 26, 2022 I have the baofeng cable for the gmrs 9r... I had to pull the connector apart and put some foam behind it to get the pins to seat on the connector. Quote
