New GMRS Licensee

Recommended Posts

Hi, and thank you for providing this forum for guests to ask questions.

I am a new GMRS licensee, with no amateur radio experience. I was in the Army in olden times, so all of my knowledge/training about transmitting procedures and etiquette comes from that.

Before I move from FRS to GMRS frequencies, I wanted to make sure I was apprised of any "rules" or norms. Aside from ending my session with my call sign, are there any other standards users follow with regard to how they start and end transmissions, etc.? I hope this makes sense.

Thanks for your kind consideration.

Ken

Hello, Ken... thank you for the inquiry.  GMRS frequencies are not much different from FRS - except for the output power considerations, license requirements and wideband emission being common.   You already know about the ID requirements, but let us furnish you with a link to GMRS regulations so you can bookmark it for any references that you may need in the future.
