very new to gmrs radio

NEED HELP !

Very new to GMRS radio,purchased a beofang dr1801 & a uv-5r radio,and I just cant grasp programing them especially the dr-1801 I love the radio hobby many years ago I was big on CB until that went to pot,can I get some help or is there a detailed web site so i can try to learn it,have my GMRS license and maybe someday try for the technical license.

As reference neither radio you reference is Part 95 certified. Both are ham radios.

What my learned friend @gortex2 is trying to gently break to you is that both radios miss the certification to be used on GMRS frequencies:

(You will find a lot of reading material and discussions ranging from interesting to absurd on this forum regarding the difference between "technical capability" and "certification".)

Outside of the "rules and regulations" discussion, the advantage of using certified GMRS radios for consumers is simple:

-> Certified GMRS radios are pre-programmed (frequencies, bandwidth, power levels, offset,...) and the consumer can use them out of the box or add tones as needed.

 

§ 95.1761 GMRS transmitter certification.

(a) Each GMRS transmitter (a transmitter that operates or is intended to operate in the GMRS) must be certified in accordance with this subpart and part 2 of this chapter.

(b) [...]

(c) [...] No GMRS transmitter will be certified for use in the GMRS if it is equipped with the capabilities to operate in services that do not require equipment certification, such as the Amateur Radio Service. [...]

There is a GMRS version of the UV-5R. The firmware is setup differently to meet specifications.
