Mobile not receiving

Question

Posted

Hey guys I’m new to the GMRS world and I have a Midland MTX575 mobile radio with the MXTA24 cable and MXTA26 whip antenna. However, I am not picking up the nearest repeater (30miles), but can hear it clearly through my Baofeng UV-5G. I have checked all of the settings and antenna connections several times and it’s all good. Does anyone know why the handheld is picking up better than the mobile?

Either the frequency is wrong or you set the receive tone wrong. Or you have a bad antenna or coax. Or you have a bad receiver.
You can eliminate the tone question by clearing out the receive tone.
Connecting the Baofeng to the coax and antenna will tell you whether there’s a problem there.

It’s the correct frequency and tone. I have the cable and antenna that the radio came with originally, hooked it up got the same result. Also I can transmit to the repeater no problem jus not receiving. Issue with the radio itself maybe?
