Question

Newby here. I want to mount my MXTA26 (paired with the MXT275) through the roof of my 02 Trailblazer. I also have two 36" gun cases mounted on the roof. The plan is to mount the antenna through the roof, between the boxes. The antenna tip will be approx 24" above the boxes, and will not interfere with opening the cases.

Questions:

1. Will the cases interfere with the with send/receive distance?

2. I may mount a CB antenna in the same manner but closer to the rear of the vehicle. What is the ideal distance between the antennas?

Suggestion appreciated.

Many thanks

1: Probably, but, for regular use, talking to regular people on the road while driving and not taking scientific measurements with equipment, you will probably never notice

2: The ideal distance is as far as possible, but again, if you are using your radio to talk with people instead of taking readings on scientific instruments, you will never notice the difference

The moral of the story is there is "it will not work" and "it may not work perfectly" - beware of "some people" that are incapable of understanding the difference.
