noob handheld antenna question

Absolute noob question here, I seem to have lost the little black tip on one of my handhelds antennas, is that something I need to be concerned about?

Another option is those little rubber vacuum hose caps from auto parts stores.

The cats chewed the tips off a couple of ducks.......I just put a little shrink tubing on it to seal it at the top. It does nothing for xmit & rcv if it is gone.....standing waves don't come pouring out the top.
