Retevis RT86 Repeater capable? It says so on the site, buuuut...

Question

Good morning!

I recently received some Retevis RT86's from a friend.  I am trying figure out if I can use repeaters with these radios.  I do not see on CHIRP or the Retevis software where I can input tones for repeaters.  There does not seem to be much information on these units out there.  I am brand new to the radio comms world and would appreciate any help or suggestions that may be out there.  I am thinking that the RT86's are more or less just more capable Family walkie-talkies as opposed to robust GMRS radios.

Again, thanks!

Nor sure about chirp. But a video I was watching on the rt86 using retvis software clearly has a decode and encode field.

It's only 16 channels and was design for business use. So be careful with settings like frequency hop and encryption, both are not allowed on frs/gmrs of course.

Don't really like that the each frequency has to be set manually. Not a problem for me but I can see new users running to problems by simply fat fingering.

Since you have the cable try the stock retvis software.
