TidRadio TD-H3 nothing heard for 2 seconds after transmit

SkyNet

Question

I purchased a pair of these radios approximately three weeks ago. They are equipped with the most recent firmware. I configured them to Normal mode and then uploaded preferred frequencies from the latest Chirp Next software. As anticipated, when I transmit on any repeater using either radio, my communication is received by others. However, after I stop transmitting, there is a delay of about two seconds before the green Receive indicator lights up and any incoming audio is heard. I have confirmed with another radio that my device ceases transmission immediately upon releasing the PTT button. This delay poses an issue as some individuals start responding before I am able to hear them, causing me to miss the initial one or two words they speak. Naturally, I cannot influence how quickly others initiate their transmissions. This issue does not occur on simplex channels or frequencies. I have ensured that all squelch tail elimination functions are deactivated. What could be causing this delay? I expect to hear audio as soon as I release the PTT button. Despite resetting the radios and reloading my frequencies, the problem persists.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions or assistance.

I've got 5 or 6 H3's and never seen this happen.  I've also looked through the ~1,000 or so comments posted on The GMRS Queen's multiple videos of this radio on the Youtubes, and I see no other reports of this occurring.

My guess is that it may have something to do with operator error - but to be fair, I have no idea how the operator would accomplish it.

A couple years ago, I was given two Baofeng HT radios.  One of them had the same delayed receive issue.  As you stated, it was rather annoying when someone was quick to key up. No idea why it worked that way.

Possibly something in the programming settings. Maybe something to do with squelch level settings or DCS  or the squelch tail eliminator. I don't use those two radios anymore, but I'll charge them up and see if I can figure it out in some limited spare time.  If I come across a valid cause, I'll post it here.

Go through the manual and set everything that has a timer or reset time to off or zero.

I am wondering if it is the #3 menu item... the "power save" setting... I think when it is in power save it might not pick up transmissions for a few seconds between it's monitoring timer. try setting it to OFF
By default it might be on 1:4 or 1:3 which I think means it is only checking for activity every so many seconds.
