WSDN412 Posted July 1, 2024 Report Posted July 1, 2024 Hi All, A newbie here. Gradually learning along the way. A couple of open repeaters I've been successful in connecting to and have requested permission to those that ask for it. Question for those in Nor Cal, what are the farthest reaching repeaters you would recommend and what typically is the process to getting a response on a request for access? Just not sure if repeater is down, changed, etc. Trying specifically to connect to SIERRA 7000 and Signal Peak (Sierra City and Cisco Grove). Thanks very much, WSDN412 (Jason) Quote
WRWE456 Posted July 5, 2024 Report Posted July 5, 2024 Hello and welcome to the forum! Looks like your post fell through the cracks. Have you looked up the repeater on the main MYGMRS.COM site? If you are a member with a call sign you can look up the owner and make a request. I just looked it up and it is listed as an open repeater. Go to the map and zoom in on Nor Cal its right there. Click on the repeater and it will give you the tones and info about it. Good size repeater. Good luck! Quote
CALO50 Posted July 17, 2024 Report Posted July 17, 2024 Not a lot of traffic on SIERRA 7000. Try Mountain Top1, Banner 700 and Oregon Pk. Mountain Top1 seems to cover the foothills in its proximity to well beyond the valley below; I once returned a radio check for someone near Martinez. Quote

CALO50 Posted July 17, 2024 Report Posted July 17, 2024 Forgot to mention, you'll need to reach out to North Valley GMRS on Facebook for Signal Peak. There's also Donner - not a lot of traffic. Quote
alfawuf11 Posted Saturday at 12:50 AM Report Posted Saturday at 12:50 AM Old topic I know, The repeater on Donner. Ch 19 462.625 is no longer listed on MyGMRS map, however it is still operational. I had permission to use the repeater but not familiar with the owner or why it was pulled from the directory. Responded to a radio check from high up on Hopland Grade west of Clearlake just a few days ago, I'm in Truckee. There is a new repeater on the same frequency not listed on this sites directory that I can hit from Truckee. Anybody familiar with it? Found it by scanning the GMRS repeater frequencies with open tones. Lots of FRS traffic from local ski areas but I was able to decifer the CTCSS uplink but not the downlink yet, not much traffic. Not everyone who operates a GMRS repeater lists it here. They might desire to be "unlisted" or simply not know about this site. The only reason I set up a repeater is because the existing local one is defunct (the member who registered it last visited here 7 years ago, their license expired 4 years ago, and they don't appear to live in this city any more). I messaged the admins here asking what the procedure was to de-register a defunct repeater, but haven't heard back yet. Quote

All of their repeaters use the same channel pair with the same receive DPL code and a different input DPL code throughout the North Valley including Donner. If my meory serves me correctly, most, not all, of the repeaters are owned by the same person. Quote
