Kenwood Program on windows 11

Good afternoon,

I am trying to program a radio that was given to me by a coworker and i can not get the software to work on windows 11. if any one has ideas i would love to hear them. i have the whole unit, mic, antenna, and program cable. i am using KPG-49D for a Kenwood TK-880 and it will not load the program on my windows 11 laptop.

The KPG-49D works fine on my Windows 10 and 11. What error(s) are you getting?

it says it will not run due to incompatibility with 64-bit version of windows

Was this a download or do you have the program on a floppy disk?.

CHIRP supports the TK-880, (it is still an experimental driver for that model, TBF) its free and windows compatible.

Have you tried that?

@WRXR255 I could not get it to work with chirp.

@nokones it was a download. is it possible i messed something up with the download?

Interesting. What is the make/model of the programming cable?

to be honest i am not sure it was one that was given to me but the guy that gave it to me used it to program it to AZ repeaters

For $25, I suggest that you go to the Ohio Solo Tech site and download the KPG-49D program.

You downloaded the 16-bit version of the app, the "DOS" version of the app, which is not compatible with Windows 10/11. You'll need to get a hold of the Windows version of the KPG-49D software.

Thank you all for the help after alot of confusion and going half bald, it was the program and i have a working program and was able to program the radio.

Now i just have to get a power converter and a antenna for the house and i will have a base unit and a mobile.
