WSDZ653 Posted August 6 Report Posted August 6 Trying to connect too two local reporters and wanted to make sure I had asked for permission the correct way. I’m brand new to this but have been using radios for years. Forgive my noob question! Quote
amaff Posted August 6 Report Posted August 6 1. If possible, request it through myGMRS. 2. If you have the channel and tone(s), set up your radio, key up, identify yourself, and...ask. WRUU653 and WSDZ653 2 Quote

If they’re on the map or in the repeater database associated with this site, just click “request permission“ and fill in the form. WRUU653 1 Quote
WRXR255 Posted August 6 Report Posted August 6 @amaff answered while i was typing but try this frist as he says, find the repeater here if it is here: Click request access. Otherwise ask on the repeater and go from there. WRUU653 1 Quote

KevinJ Posted August 7 Report Posted August 7 The best answer I have received on this question is, if the tones are listed, and it's set to open, it's almost always a go-ahead, but never hurts to ask or give thanks when using the repeater. As I was told when I asked most people tend to want you to use their repeater if its status is open with the tones listed. I did just that, I programmed my handheld, and the next time I was near enough, I announced myself and asked for a radio/mic check and also thanked the owner of the system. Have not had any problems or anything as of yet. WRXR255, WRUU653, TrikeRadio and 2 others 4 1 Quote
