I see a new repeater on line in Angleton.  I can hear radio traffic and CW tones every 30 minutes.  I have programmed correct freq, PL code and +5.0000 step.  I know I heard the gentleman said they just flipped the switch.  But not able to hit the repeater, Im about 3 miles away, flat coastal land.  No tall buildings or obstructions from my house to the repeater.  I want to tell the system operator about the issue.  Can he reach out to me.  So thankful there is a repeater with linked capabilities in our area.  That is real close other than 32 miles away.

Generally speaking, on average, usually, most of the time, when someone can't hit a repeater, it's YOUR problem, not the repeater's problem.   and if it IS the repeater's problem, my guess/prediction is that the owner/operator is already well aware.  I am also going to predict that posting your request here is not going to get you any response from the owner/operator. But, that's just a guess.

I’d be willing to bet it’s not the repeater but your issue.  Might be the antenna, the tones, the radio….. but if any one else can hit the repeater then it’s not the repeater it’s you

My apologies, yes, off set.  I am new to this GMRS.  I appreciate someone letting the owner of repeater about the issue.  I did not hear what the concern is.  I live near the TDECU building.  I can hear the talk.  Did the tone change?

You have as much access to the owner as any of us.

Depending on your radio, you may be able to scan for the tone. Check your manual to see if it has this feature.

First, where is Angleton?  It’s meaningless to me and possibly people in 48 other states. Without saying a state you’re less likely to get local assistance. What’s the call sign of the repeater that you’re trying to use?

Second, what frequency are you transmitting on and receiving on?

Third, what tones are you using for transmitting?

What radio are you using? Is it a GMRS radio? Did you program the repeater on a repeater channel or on a simplex channel?
A GMRS radio will already have the offset on repeater channels. For instance if you programmed on channel 21, that’s simplex and you need to be on channel 29 which is a repeater channel.
I’m suggesting this because you said you could hear “radio traffic” so as it has been mentioned the problem is likely on your end and not the repeaters end. Instead of trying to reach a repeater owner on a forum they may not even be paying attention to you may need to look at your set up closer. Give us some more information and maybe we can help.
