Radioditty Handheld won’t communicate with RD mobile on repeater channel

Question

Posted

Good day all and thank you for allowing me to join.

Just got my RD GM30. Been a GMRS user for about 5 years I have a base station (RD DB20G) that regularly connects to a repeater (40ft directional).

I have configured the GM30 to the same repeater channel and the corresponding tx and rx CTCSS.

When I transmit I can see the base station “receiving” but I do not hear myself. I have a TDH3 set to the same and it communicates with the base/mobile with no problems.

Any ideas from seasoned GM30 users? Thank you in advance!

Edit: the base receives all channels 1-22 5 by 5.

So your base station hits the repeater but your ht does not?

how far from the repeater are you. Remember you’ve got a 20w base with an antenna up high. Then you have an ht with a small antenna down low.  Sounds like it’s open repeater squelch but not getting the voice to the repeater well enough for it to transmit.  An ht will have a mile to 60miles depending on line of sight.
