A little more correctly stated, the repeater uses a PL tone (CTCSS) of 141.3 (also known as “travel tone”).

Thanks, words have meaning.  I am learning and it all is new to me.  I happened across this thread as I too had no idea what "ORI" on the repeater listings meant.  I also leaned about the "Call/Emergency Channel".

Ah Ha! I was looking for that info.

 

ORI: Open Repeater Initiative.

 

Now what does it mean exactly? I haven't even installed my GMRS in the Jeep yet (waiting for warmer weather cuz I am a woos now days) so I have been searching the forums

Usually open to all with a callsign and proper use.  CTCSS code 141.3

So possibly a good idea, if traveling and your radio can be setup, have channels 15-22 with the travel tone set.

So as you travel into areas with that option set ont eh repeater, your ready for use.

 

I haev some more programing to do, now.
