WSBT754 Posted Saturday at 04:27 PM Report Posted Saturday at 04:27 PM Anybody here from St. Clair county or close by that are somewhat active on GMRS? No repeaters around close enough and not much activity can be found. Quote
73blazer Posted Saturday at 06:15 PM Report Posted Saturday at 06:15 PM Uh...have you looked at the map. There's loads of repeaters around there. Three should be easily reachable. Depending where in St. Clair county Mayville 550 or Macomb 675. Actually there's two in Mayville the 600 which used to be Michigamme network and the 550. Usually plenty of traffic on the Mayville and Macomb. Throw your call out someone will respond. WRXB215 1 Quote
WSBT754 Posted Sunday at 11:15 AM Author Report Posted Sunday at 11:15 AM Yes, I know of those repeaters, and where I am just outside Port Huron and a 13 element beam antenna I cannot hit Mayville and just barely break into the Macomb. I won't try to use a repeater that I cannot get into full quieting as I don't want to make other users struggle to hear my transmission or just making noise on the systems. I would be interested in a simplex channel being used over making very choppy calls into someones repeater. Thanks for the reply. Whiskey363 1 Quote
73blazer Posted Sunday at 02:55 PM Report Posted Sunday at 02:55 PM Try Richmond 725 141.3 . Not sure if it's operational yet I think it is. I don't think there's too many people using GMRS for simplex cold contacts as you usually have to be within a few miles of them unless someones on a tower or mountain. SteveShannon 1 Quote

That one hasn't been brought online yet. I seen it listed here for months now but nothing seems to be happening with it yet. I know I would be able to hit that one just fine as there is an amateur repeater on 440 there and can hit it full quieting. It's not a big deal really, was just curious to see if there is any activity at all around the Port Huron area but it seems as though there isn't. Quote
