On most radios you just plug it in. But be sure it’s plugged all the way in.

If you mean the speaker in the mic, there is no speaker in the mic, it’s just a mic. Or if you mean just being able to use the mic, as @SteveShannon said make sure it’s plugged in all the way.

When plugging in the microphone make sure you hear a click. Maybe you'll need to push back the rubber protector on the plug then plug in the microphone. If that doesn't make a difference then you have a defective microphone.
