If so, set it to scan channels 1-22 with no privacy tones. If people are using GMRS and they’re within range, you’ll hear them. WRUU653, WRHS218, WSGC763 and 1 other 4 Quote

Get a few friends or family together get some radios and go out and do an activity we’re gmrs radios would help communicate. Hike, bike, walk, boat, fish, hunt, go to a park, go to Disney land, take a road trip…… The list goes on. As soon as you do these things, anything, where communication is needed, and you use gmrs for that communication then yes you can hear gmrs radios In use. GrouserPad 1 Quote

Demonstrating a firm grasp on the obvious, but for the benefit of newcomers who may not know, those same channels scanned without a "privacy tone" on an FRS radio will also hear GMRS as well. They use the same channels. It will also hear repeaters if any are in range and active, on channels 15 thru 22. WRUU653, SteveShannon and kirk5056 2 1 Quote

WSHS561 Posted April 10 Author Report Posted April 10 @Jaay @BoxCar @GrouserPad OK - jokes taken - corrected my typo [I am only human] That being said - I have added a second Baofeng radio [UV-5RM-PLUS] . Anyone got some clear guidance on using a frequency my Baofeng AR-5RM and UV-5RM-PLUS so they can communicate [as a walkie talkie]? I want to get my youngest grandson interested in amatuer radio use. Would be great to teach him what frequency is safe for us to use on the GMRS radios [see attached] Quote
GrouserPad Posted April 10 Report Posted April 10 https://www.buytwowayradios.com/blog/2022/11/list-of-gmrs-frequencies-and-channels.html there’s all you need to program it so you can have gmrs frequencies. Mind the power settings as well. Use CHIRP software. Chripmyradio.com Be careful not to mess it up or you’ll possibly end up transmitting on hospital/school/county frequencies that you are ABSOLUTELY not allowed to do. Quote
WSHS561 Posted April 10 Author Report Posted April 10 @GrouserPad I have chirp loaded on the AR-5RM. Seeking to to mirror on the UV-5RM-Plus [carefully]. Quote
WSHS561 Posted April 10 Author Report Posted April 10 @GrouserPad And - thanks for that list link. Quote
WSHS561 Posted April 10 Author Report Posted April 10 Outstanding when I set both of these Baofeng radios to the same frequency in the list you sent - they connected - BRAVO! Quote
