What do you need help with.  Put up antenna. Put up coax hook up to repeater set radios and talk.

He might be an old fart that needs help...   Go give the gent a helping hand

You can still see how people react to him. I added him to my ignore list a while ago and it really has made my life easier.

I'm good with things as is, no need to ignore.

I have noticed that even though I have this "individual" ignored, if he's quoted his inane comments still show up.  Then I just have to turn on my filter and ignore him.

So any one close to Bushnell, Fl can give me a hand?

There's a ham club in Bushnell. Have you contacted them to find out if any of their members could be bribed with a six-pack to help you out? Maybe they have some GMRS fans in their ranks who'd help in exchange for use of your repeater (or adult beverages). Crash their lunch or breakfast meeting, or send their contacts an email.

I'd give 10:1 odds there's someone in the club who would be glad to help. IME. most hams aren't actually hostile to GMRS, but the ones who are make a lot of noise. Most hams love to share knowledge. I'd be glad to help if I lived close. In exchange for the tone to your repeater, of course. 😉

Just tell the HAMS this is your "First Step" in your radio journey and will be following up with a HAM license. Probably will get all the help you need, or is that false advertising. lol

I'm sure that you can get at least a couple of people from the local amateur radio club to help. Most enjoy helping especially when it comes to putting antennas up.

And if they do help and try talking you into getting our amateur license, you can always tell them that you want to get your feet wet first with GMRS.

We have a couple of members that struggle to get their amateur license due to health issues. We haven't pushed them into it and have suggested they start with GMRS. They have all taken our advice and are on the air and using the GMRS repeater.
