  1. Past hour
  2. NOAA was working perfectly for me and I didn't notice any interruption of signal. I don't even think it is possible as they have to many redundancies built in.
  3. I will share my experience as soon as mine arrives.
  4. Someone with Retevis RT97L Experience?
  5. Hi, I have one, it works very well only that the power in duplexes drops to 5.7 watts but if you achieve a good height it can reach you up to 20 miles. I'm also looking into the RT97L retevis to see if it transmits 25 watts, I'm thinking of putting a second repeater to see if it works for me.
  6. SOCAL with Bigger issues Again !!
  7. I wasn't going to go there ... I'm a nice guy usually .
  8. Transmitter Maintenance or a broken link from NOAA.
  9. YOU ... ARE such a Moron, but then you already KNOW this.
  10. Pretty much the name of any bill is the exact opposite of what it actually will do.
  11. It won't impact the cost of radios as much as you may think. The tariff is collected on the value of the item at the port of entry. That $30 radio is probably only worth $6 on the dock. Most of the expense is in transport, advertising, handling, etc. A 25% tariff would mean that $30 radio went up to $31.50. Even a TYT TH-9800 probably is only worth $50-60 at the dock, meaning it would go up from $240 to $253. I think most of us will complain just a little and go right on buying radios.
  12. Today
  13. A lot of police radios used to be "2-way not 3-way". Dispatch would transmit on frequency A and receive on frequency B. All the units' radios would transmit on frequency B and receive on frequency A. Dispatch could hear and talk to everyone, but the field units could only hear and talk to dispatch. It helped keep down confusion. Typically, there were a couple of "tactical" frequencies on which the units could talk directly to one another. I don't know what they do now with all the new and different radios. I've been out of law enforcement for almost 40 years. I could see where a business with a number of field units might find something similar useful. Otherwise, I can't think of a practical use for that capability. It's interesting to contemplate, though.
  14. well, apparently the 'big pussh' to get things transitioned by end of 22 was to qualify for federal grants under the Public Safety Act which paid for almost 80% of the cost Cities and Counties had to incur. And you're right, after doing a little google research, the Puplic Safety Act was a mandate to move television from analog to digital. So the next the question, why the hell did that act provide grants to provide money for radio communications. No i did not read the entire bill, but i sure somewhere deep in there will provide that answer.. This is another reason i always note NO on aall Propositions and Measures. You always end up voting something just the opposite of what you thought. Pretty amazing that every city and county in the country didn't take advantage of of this bill.
  15. Not exactly progress in my book. But it's a start. Got the tracking # for the antenna and waiting for the cable to be shipped. I assume a few days for that to be assembled since I'm having the ends put on it. And then the big wait for the bucket truck to become available for my use.
  16. Nice!! now you're making progress.
  17. This is a common problem when you don't set your time zone to your location and leave it set to Beijing.
  18. If he's that worried then consult this site for the status of various NOAA weather stations. https://www.weather.gov/nwr/outages
  19. Stop with the negativity. We all know that you are just a hateful rude person with no friends. You really need to pull your head out of your forth point of contact and then see a doctor so that your headspace and timing can be reset. And to answer why someone would want to listen to the NOAA channels, the internet might go out during a bad storm or the person might be somewhere that there is no internet or cell service.
  20. Doesn't sound like an issue. Sounds like that's the way it's designed.
  21. Omg 6HOURS without noaa? if we only had any other way to hear about the weather!!!! Maybe someone should invent a World Wide Web and put weather info on it!!!! Some times noaa goes down. Sometimes for hours sometimes for days. It happens. We just have to learn about the weather like people did 50, 100, 200…… years ago.
  22. Try the other 6 NOAA frequencies? Without knowing where you are, we don't have any way to know what NOAA channel you SHOULD be hearing them on.
  23. Hello, my Baofeng UV9G is set to 162.475 to listen to NOAA. I've heard nothing for the last hour. Does anyone have any thoughts? Thank You in Advance!
  24. WRUU653 mentioned factory reset. Did you save the original programing file from the manufacturer? Or, read the working radio, save that file and clone the troublesome radio with that file.
