  3. Not sure what you mean. I believe most repeaters only have one tone. Have you tried clearing things and starting over? Maybe try the other radio. Transmit on one and listen (or have someone listen) on the other. It’s not uncommon to not get an answer back from anyone randomly listening.

    GMRS repeaters

I think you are confused with display symbols on your radio. Pull your manual and become familiar with them so you know what they represent. Unless you are on a trunked system, your radio will have no way to detect presence of a repeater while in idle mode. GMRS radios do not operate in Trunk.
  5. With all due respect, go back and read my last comment here, it was very clear. And as stated in prior comment, pulling data still works. It’s just not as easy using common software such as ad Excel.
  6. You seem troubled. You previously described something that by your own admission “used to work” or requires using a compiler. It’s far easier to just run a report to generate the CSV file in a method officially provided by the owner. Premium membership is a small price for such convenience.
  7. There are a couple of possibilities: You are very confused about what your radio is doing/how your radio functions Your radio is broken and my guess is that your radio is not broken.

    GMRS repeaters

My radio will show a tower in the display screen for repeaters, in simplex transmissions the tower doesn't show on the display screen. I have all the GMRS repeaters in my area programed into my radio, when someone uses the repeater the tower icon pops up on my display screen. The frequency for GMRS channel 4 does not match any frequency for registered repeaters in my area. It appears someone in my area is using channel 4 on a repeater. I have no clue what's going on or why. At times the transmissions sound like a government organization, other times transmissions are personal in nature.
  9. Thats what I figured, I was afraid that my radios were not working but they seem to work fine. The repeater has a bunch of different tones that work with it, I have tried a few of them with no difference in results.
  10. very limited. And no, not the only way.. as i stated above
  11. Premium members of this site can generate reports in CSV format using whatever search combination they want. As far as I know that’s only available to premium members and the only way to export data.
  12. Either that, or ... someone here casually mentioned his GMRS callsign (which he had tried to hide after he got run-off the site last time).. Then everyone looking it up and seeing sh!thole where he lives, his full legal name, and pretty much everything else about him... He got real quiet right after that..
  13. Sounds like it might just be down then. Or they changed the input tone. Do you hear other traffic on that repeater?
  14. That seems really un-good. Even sitting in a hot car, in the sun, it shouldn't be hitting close to the boiling point of water.
  15. I just figured enough people had him blocked to where I wasn't even seeing replies to him anymore
  16. you buy it that way. some of the popular $hit hit the fan radios came wide open, but i don't think they are coming that way anymore. Google $hit hit the fan Wouxuan and see if that helps. Send the sellers a private message (emial) and ask if you can buy a radio out to 520. Good Luck
  17. Thank you both, I have tried shouting my call-sign and have not gotten a response. Went up to the place the repeater is located again and used one radio to call the other using the simplex GMRS22 channel and was able to reach it (from 11.9 miles one radio inside my home the other in the truck) but using the repeater it did nothing. I am glad both radios are working as they should using the simplex channels, this is the main reason I got them, will continue to try and establish communication with another repeater when I am near one.
  18. up to a few weeks ago you could use Excel to extract data from the site using simple Excel tools but the owner has since locked down his site stopping these Excel tools. However there are still other tools available, some open source, that will continue to work and allow the extraction process. You will need to learn how to use compliers with these tools but they work perfect.. Google HTML data capture and look for open source tools. Lots of youtube videos out there too. Note that it will also me handy if you know how to write macros as this will speed up process of sorting. Good Luck!
  19. Hopefully, Jeff Bezos is back from Venice.
  20. The radio does have a thermal-shutdown.. so if gets too hot for any reason, it will throttle-back and then stop transmitting all-together.. Wait for it to get cold tonight and then try it again.. if still no joy, send it back to the guy you got it from and tell him to send you one that works.
  21. I banned his ars
  22. <Sigh> it wasn’t even turned on. It was plugged into the cig lighter though. Noticed this last week when the truck was outside in the sun too. Thought it might be ambient heat that it couldn’t dissipate (but it wa off then too). Would you expect it to still transmit?
  23. Too bad our GMRS friend from So.Cal isn't around anymore, he always hit repeaters in Arizona, over 200 miles away... ..whatever happened to that guy anyway?
  24. With the experience I had with one of those (worked for a few days then just wouldn't receive *anything*...worst radio I've ever owned.) I'm going to go out on a limb and say "it's probably the radio." Those things suck, unfortunately, because it's a cool concept, with everything in the handset including a useful screen.

  26. I'm not getting anything either. But I'm in Connecticut.
  27. You will need to use two antennae, one for the 70cm freqs and one for GMRS. You should mount each antenna on the side of each cowl nead the "A" Pillar using the Rugged Radios mounting brackets and NMO mounts. Don't use thd cheap stuff get the Laird Mount and Cable from a reputable Radio Electronics Dealer. As for the GMRS antenna since it appears you are only concerned with GMRS for the trail, you should get thd Midland MXTA25 or the MXTA26. Attached is a picture of my Highband VHF antenna on the side near the cowl and "A" Pillar. Also attached is a Laird Lip Mount NMO mount I use for my UHF DMR freqs. The Phantom antenna is a Laird. Just make sure that the mounts have chassis ground continuity without the coax cable connected to the radio.
  28. They have arrived
